 ACROCHORDONS [ SKIN TAGS ] 

Skin tags are small , noncancerous growth that tend to be the same color as your skin . They often look like a cluster of skin tissue extending out from a tiny stem . They're sometimes darker and may resemble a raised mole . Most skin tags  are between 1-5 mm, but some  can grow as large as a few centimeters . They typically don't require treatment . If their appearance bothers you, you can undergo a skin tag removal procedure . It's important to receive care from a health professional and not try to treat them yourself.

CAUSES OF SKIN TAGS 



Acrochordons occur when the body produces extra cells in the skin's top layers . They tens=d to form in skin folds and areas where natural  movements causes the skin to rub against itself. Skin tags often grow in these areas .

1. Small lesions can be snipped with small sharp iris scissors . this method usually works immediately and very effective.

2. Liquid nitrogen can be applied directly to the skin tag with forceps or Cryo Tweezers or in the form of a spray from a cryogun . The Cryo Tweezers are usually very efficient and less painful . 

3. Larger acrochordons may be removed with a shave or snip excision after injecting the base of the lesion with local anesthesia . 

4. It works for very tiny lesions , too small to grab with forceps . 

5. Follow up is not usually necessary . 

A patients is suspected to have concurrent acanthosis nigricans , patients  should be advised of the potenial risk for diabetes . These patients often have comorbidities including obesity , diabetes ,or prediabetes , it is reasonable for any physician to encourage healthy  eating habits , exercise, and other behaviour modification to encourage benefits beyond the skin examination .

Steps you can take include :

1. Miantaining a healthy weight .

2. Getting regular exercise .

3. Avoiding jewwlry and clothing that may rub against your skin .
